Drinking Cocoa with Presence- a not so complicated art
Salvation is not somewhere else in time or space. It is here and now.
Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now.
Simple practice to practice being present while drinking cocoa:
When preparing your cup, start listening to your breathing, observe if you are having short, agitated breaths, if so, you can practice inhaling in four and exhaling in four to relax.
Observe each step carefully, the boiling water, the sound of the blender, and not only that, observe your body and facial posture, check if you are standing well and if you feel tension between your eyebrows, try to smile slightly to soften your facial expression. (this sends a signal to the brain and helps create a feeling of calm)
When you have your drink ready, be intentional with your presence, that is, work with what comes to your mind. You can ask yourself the question: What does my heart want to manifest today? What is something I can let go of today to feel lighter?
Remember that you can ask these questions by practicing the power of compassion and self-respect.
Smell the aroma of cocoa, go deeper into the present, listen to your heart rate, breathe the aroma of cocoa and when you exhale imagine that you are exhaling your intention into your cup.
Place the cup directly on your heart and continue observing your inner space without judgment.
Drink cocoa, allow yourself to savor the flavor, feel how it runs through your mouth, trachea, how it reaches your heart.
When you're done you can continue with your day practicing the art of observation - which immediately brings you into the "power of now."
